Addlestone Model Centre

I have been using this shop since 2009, when I worked round the corner. I now have a 5 year old who is as crazy about cars than me, and loves the retro TAMIYA models. I know I can get things cheaper online, but I do enjoy good advice and service, which is why I do a 60 mile round trip. I must mention Hayden, he gave me a lot of time, great advice, even though I must have been driving him mad with all the questions. I shall continue using this model shop, based on the service I got from Hayden, he was delightful to deal with, and being in retail myself, just with full scale cars, it goes a long way. Thank you

Great little house of modelling treasures. I discovered this place when teaching in Addlestone and I go back if I’m in the area. Lovely service with knowledgeable staff and a really great collection of kits, equipment and anything else you might need. Beginner friendly and they even do trains. Last time I was in they even had selections from behind the Iron Curtain. Can’t recommend them enough.

This is the best shop in the area, it's been in Addlestone for as long as I can remember and luckily I live really close to it. The staff are great, nice and polite and will offer any help and advice with troubleshooting, buying or for anyone wanting to start a hobby or just looking for a gift. They have a great range of kits, spares, parts and accessories for all types from model railways to RC. Overall an excellent little shop, so if I could, I'd rate it ten stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s disappointing that I have to leave a less than satisfactory review for this business (mail order side). I can’t comment on the physical shop because I’ve never been. It looks good judging by the other reviews here, but I won’t be using their mail order service again. My order was delivered in 2 days, so a very efficient service indeed, especially now with the strikes in the run up to Christmas. Their prices also appear to be fairly competitive. However, the packaging was awful and practically non-existent. The £60 Bachmann model was not even placed inside a proper box - it was just bits of cardboard taped together with sellotape, not even strong parcel tape. There was no protection around the Bachmann box and it was difficult to unpack the consignment without causing any damage. It’s a miracle it arrived in one piece, as RM are not always careful in my experience. You would have thought that a model train shop would appreciate the value of their brand new items and the fact that customers like to receive them in mint condition (including the boxes). The business has since apologised for not taking due care with my order and said that the person responsible for packing my order would be spoken to and that they were “running short of cardboard” during a busy period!! I was grateful for their response, although I’m not convinced they were too bothered about what had happened. As I told them, I would’ve been more than happy to wait for my order and pay more than 45p on top of the £5.55 delivery charge to cover packaging costs rather than have it rushed out to me in such a poor state. They assured me that it wouldn’t happen again, but I for one won’t be returning and cannot recommend their mail order service, so be warned. We are dealing with expensive, fragile items, so I am not prepared to risk it. It’s a great shame because I genuinely want to continue supporting UK small business whenever I can.
